welcome to Compton grove farm and stables.


Located in Collingham near Wetherby, West Yorkshire with easy access to the A1, Compton Grove Farm and Stables is ideally situated close to Bramham Estate. Our convenient location offers easy access to varied and safe hacking both on and off quiet roads and bridle paths in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.

With 23 stables and 10 paddocks, we offer Half and Full Livery packages and a full range of services and instruction which can deliver a tailor-made service to satisfy both you and your horse’s specific needs.

We have 2 well-maintained floodlit outdoor arenas for schooling & polework and access to a course of showjumps in one of our fields.

In addition to delivering a high quality livery service, we have bred a number of successful dressage and event horses and can provide a number of additional services:

We offer high quality instruction across a range of equine disciplines from Charles Langrick and Sue Clark (BHS Stage 3 Coach in Complete Horsemanship, Stage 4 Teach, Stage 4 Care and Management).

We hold clinics with Sarah Rodger (British Dressage List 2a Judge) once a month and we welcome other external instructors vising the yard to deliver your own choice of training.

Victoria Spalding (MSc MCSP ACPAT Cat A Chartered Physiotherapy) delivers an equine physiotherapy service and there is a regular yard visit from a local farrier and a monthly visit from Hird & Partners, Equine Veterinary Surgeons.

Our clients have a wide range of horsey interests including membership and participation in Riding Club, British Dressage, British Eventing and Unaffiliated Competitions at all levels.  In addition, we run a number of  Yard Shows to add a bit of competitive spirit and to provide an opportunity for everyone to get involved and get a feel for competing.


Compton Grove Farm and Stables is owned and managed by Charles Langrick.

With over 40 years’ experience of owning and working with horses, the team is understandably very proud of our long history of caring for horses.

Meet the team

The Compton Grove Farm and Stables Team has a wide range of experience gained across a number of equine disciplines.


Charles Langrick

Charles has a wealth of experience from a long career working with horses. Charles owned and competed his own ponies from childhood and set up his own Livery Yard in Collingham in 1995. He supplemented his skills and experience with a period of training in Switzerland with Doris Ramseier, the Olympic Team Dressage medal winner.

Charles has also trained and competed his own horses up to Advanced Medium Dressage.


Liam McDermott

Liam has been riding from an early age and started working with horses at the age of 18. Liam has broad experience from roles working in livery yards, point to point, physiotherapy and young stock.

Liam has had a number of horses and now owns Mary, a 7 year old thoroughbred mare, who he is bringing back into work and aims to re-train to compete in both dressage and eventing.


Charlotte Broom

Charlotte comes from a horsey family so has been around horses all her life. She has been riding since the age of 6, owning and riding her own ponies. Her ambition is to compete in dressage and showjumping.

Charlotte is currently training for level 2 Equine Apprenticeship with Haddon Training Ltd . She will complete this course at the end of February and is planning to progress to level 3.
